MATH
Grade two's have been learning to regroup when subtracting (what you might have called carrying) using hands on materials and pictures. Most are beginning to understand the concept. You can help by asking your child to explain how to answer a question such as 72-45.
Grade three's have been doing well at understanding that division is making equal groups. They have been using reverse multiplication, skip counting and diagrams to answer questions in class.
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
We had our jump rope demonstration on Thursday and the envelopes for fund raising came home this week. Please don't lose the envelopes because they will need to be returned even if you don't collect anything. This initiative finishes the last week of May.
POEMS
Your child chose a poem to memorize this week. They were given a photocopied sheet to keep in their agenda so they can practice at home and at school. We will start presenting May 12. Each child will recite their poem on their special helper day. Thanks for your support with this :)
PHOTOS
I will be adding some photo to our class website this weekend. Thanks to Mrs. Hassall (our buddy class teacher) who contributed some as well. You can access the site anytime through the link of the Rayleigh home page.
