Happy Valentine's Day!
ART STARTS
Our last session with Leslie Bolin is Tuesday afternoon. In preparation, she is asking that we all closely examine an apple before the session. What colours can you see? What sort of texture (inside and out)? What is the shape? etc. We are in the process of planning a school wide celebration and display on the afternoon of February 26th. Save the date!
WORD WORK
We will be having word work this week despite only having four days. The words, correctly sorted, are always posted on the website (link above) in the same order. So if your child had the words in the third group the previous week, they'll have the words in the third group this week. Children should be bringing their words back and forth between school and home all week. This program focuses on looking for patterns and applying them, so children should be sorting words based on sounds and letter patterns. There are 24+ words per week to study, but they are only tested on ten which they have to put in the correct category. Details on recommended nightly home activities are on their envelopes. Thank you for your support at home.
LICE
These little critters are still making the rounds. Please remain vigilant and reinforce that children can help prevent the spread by maintaining their personal bubbles, even with close friends. For the time being, I am removing the Headbandz game from our activity shelf and am looking at alternatives to headphones for the listening center.
