Good morning everyone,
WORD WORK
We will be doing word work for the next two weeks, but not the last week before the winter break. Unfortunately, since I was away this week, I'll have to post this week's key to the words on the website tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.
SCHOLASTIC ORDERS
The November flyers went home on Wednesday since I didn't want to send them too close to the book fair, but if you return your order this week you should be able to get your books before Christmas. Please consider buying some of your gifts from Scholastic, not only are there some great deals, our class will earn credits to buy books. I can hold on to secret orders and make arrangements for you to pick up if you'd like to surprise your child.
HOMEWORK CALENDARS
November calendars are due Tuesday and December ones will be coming home tomorrow. Thank you for your support at home.
COMING SOON
Thanks to our amazing PAC, our classroom will be getting a listening centre where students can listen to books. this is just one of the way the PAC's fundraising efforts have helped our school.
On a related note, our Smartboard projector has now arrived, but I'm not sure where we are on the installation list. Hopefully we'll see this soon.
SPECIAL HELPERS THIS WEEK
Monday-
Tuesday Aubrey
Wednesday Ava
Thursday Bruce & Tyson
Friday Cassian
LETTERS TO SANTA
We will be writing letters to Santa this week and mailing them to the North Pole. We should have Santa's replies back before the last day of school. At this age, many children have questions about Santa and some, especially those with older siblings, may no longer believe. If your child is one of these, please talk to them about not spoiling it for those kids who still feel the magic.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Our song will be Christmas Cookies and we'll start practicing tomorrow. For costumes, the students will need an apron, if you have extras let me know if you are willing to share. I'm hoping to keep this cost free for parents. Some students will have plastic mixing bowls and wooden spoons or cookie cutters. I'd like to make chef's hats for the kids, but will probably need some helpers to make it happen. I've added a sign up sheet for Monday December 14 1:20 to 2:20 to the Art Starts sign up sheet. As always, you can use the link or email me if you can help.
LAST WEEKS OF SCHOOL
As the kids get more excited, it may become harder for them to focus. At school, we will try and maintain our routines as much as possible although our topics will definitely be holiday themed. But there will be disruptions, especially in the last week (see below). As well, Mrs. Tweed and I have also discussed combining the classes for some craft sessions this month, but are still working out the details. You can help support at home by making sure your child has enough sleep and ensuring some down time in this exciting season. Thanks in advance.
